not only … but also意思是“不但…而且…”用于连接两个表示并列关系的成分，着重强调后者，连接两个并列主语时，谓语动词的单复数根据就近原则，also通常可以省略，当notonly放在句首，连接一个句子时，该句应使用倒装语序，而but also后面的句子仍用陈述语序。
